EVHS Softball: A Comeback Season

by Dani Tsao

The 2025 softball season has came to an end after a hard 20-14 loss against Lakeview Charter in the playoffs. However, after last year’s season with 0 wins and 11 losses, this year’s performance was a substantial victory for the EVHS/SASM Falcon softball team. The team ended the season with a 7 win - 9 loss record and earned a spot in the first round of playoffs.

Throughout the season, as the softball team improved, there were many memorable moments. This includes dominating many of their games, with 6 out of the 7 wins being won by the run rule, which is when one team leads the game by 10 or more runs, allowing the game to end early. One of these wins was even against a D2 team, so that makes it even more impressive. Another unforgettable moment occurred on Senior Night, which is a game dedicated to the seniors to show our appreciation of them. That night was marked by a talented sophomore hitting the team’s first home run of the season, a historic grand slam.

One key player in these games was Kate Casillas at second base. Although it was her first year playing, she was a major defensive player and made multiple double plays this season. Another pivotal contributor was Dani Tsao, the pitcher. Throwing for the first time in her career, the early games were rough, but she was able to sharpen her skills throughout the season and help the team win. A final essential player was Elodia Honigstein. As the only catcher on the team, she never got a break but still fought through numerous long games, including a grueling 3.5 hour, 9 inning game. She was also a central offensive player, batting third in the lineup to drive in countless runs.
